IN CIRCLES

In the summer of 2014, I had an office job. I kept a little recording setup under my desk during the day, at night my brother would meet me there and we'd write together. In August, we wrote the bones of what would become No More Creepers there... and this song. We were struggling to make something happen. In spring 2015, I landed Minecraft: Story Mode.

This track has always been a little private memory of that time. We wrote it in one night, there at my desk. The vocals are recorded with the built in mic on a set of standard iphone headphones. That's how we recorded the vocals for No More Creepers, too.


AT NIGHT

This song originated in August 2016, during the sessions for Minecraft: Story Mode, Season 1, Episode 8. Andrew tracked some guitar and said his tone sounded "like LA at night". It did.

We didn't turn it into anything in time for the episode and I moved to New York three months later. That December, I started chopping up that guitar recording and made this other thing out of it, sang over it. I called it "nyc at night."

I visited Napa in May 2017 to start working out Season 2 with Andrew. Serf came by the studio one night and we asked him to sing over it. Then we went back to writing a hundred other songs and forgot about it.
